Florida Golf Courses

Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, Florida has many golf courses to choose from. Some of the state’s best courses are easily accessible, while others are legendary. Prices for a round of golf vary, depending on the course, day of the week, and season. You can find a variety of packages to suit your budget. Depending on your schedule and preference, you can choose between a private course or a public one.

The Nicklaus Course

A Jack Nicklaus Course is a great way to play golf in Florida. The Ocean Course features six holes that play along the Atlantic Ocean. Besides the stunning views, the course also features a four-hole finishing hole nicknamed “The Bear Claw.”

The Champion Course

The Champion Course in Florida is home to one of the PGA TOUR’s Honda Classic. The Tom Fazio-designed course was recently completely redesigned by Jack Nicklaus. The Championship Course features generous landing areas and lush greens, with challenging course management challenges. Its five sets of tees accommodate golfers of all skill levels. The 11th, 16th, and 15th holes are known as “The Bear Trap” due to the unique water hazards they pose.

The Streamsong Red Course

The Streamsong Red Course in Florida is set to debut this year. Designed by Golfweek’s best designers, this par-five course is short and a little bit more challenging than its 18-hole siblings. The course will be routed around a pond on the right side and has a dozen bunkers along its left side. Despite this, the fairway is wide enough to allow players to reach the green in two shots, and it will likely be an easy walk.

The Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort

The Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort reopened this week after an extended closure caused by Hurricane Matthew. After being submerged in saltwater for 13 months, the course has been regrassed with Platinum Paspalum, which can withstand eight times the saltwater content of Bermuda grass. Golfers can enjoy the resort’s championship course while staying at the nearby Hammock Beach Resort. The Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort is a private course available to hotel guests.

The TPC Sawgrass

The TPC Sawgrass in Florida is one of the many golf courses in the southeastern United States. It is located in Ponte Vedra Beach, southeast of Jacksonville. This golf course opened 42 years ago and was the first of many Tournament Players Clubs that were built throughout the country. While the original Sawgrass course is a challenge for players of all skill levels, it is definitely worth a visit. Here are some reasons to play the TPC Sawgrass:

The Bear Trap

The Bear Trap is considered the most difficult golf course in the state. Its three holes are named after legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, and the course also features a restaurant. The 15th hole, in particular, is considered one of the hardest holes in golf. You can enjoy the scenic views from the restaurant while playing the golf course, and a nearby beach is a great place to relax after a round.
